When I first became a real estate agent in May 2022, I desired to find a small organization where I could
grow and become confident and knowledgeable in this arena. The real estate exam focuses on the nuts
and bolts of the subject matter; it does not give hands-on applicable examples of the minute details that
a real estate transaction entails. Also, the actual physical business tools needed to run a successful real
estate business are left up to each person to find on their own. I was looking for a broker who was
available to me for answers to questions I could not know where to find answers. I really desired to
focus on getting sales first. The first agency I joined initially promised to provide the support I needed.
However, I knew after two weeks that this agency was not a good fit for me. Many agencies approached
me. However, I trusted in my intuition to guide me to the right broker for me. When Ms. Ashley Kerns,
recruiter for Blackwell Real Estate called me for an interview, I felt a calmness that I did not experience
with the other recruiters.
When I met with James for the first time, I felt that I was in the presence of a successful man that did
not mind sharing his knowledge. I told him what I was looking for in a broker: accessibility, initial
direction, and guidance as to what steps to take to grow my business. James provided a portfolio with
everything his office provided for new agents. The extensive training really helps new agents to form
habits that can help them be successful throughout their careers. James provided me with all the
services his office provided for his agents. Everything was clearly spelled out in his presentation folder.
If an agent desires, Blackwell Real Estate can become almost one stop shopping for almost everything
your real estate business requires.
I am so happy and grateful that I signed on with Blackwell Real Estate. Although James is a no-nonsense
person in business, He has a wonderful, approachable spirit. I am happy to say that I did close my first
sale in six months when inventory was low, prices and interest rates were high. So many times, I
became anxious and discouraged during the process. However, I believed that if I followed James’
guidance, I would succeed, and I did!

As a new agent, I can’t say enough wonderful things about James Blackwell and Blackwell Real Estate. I met with 3 other, very large and very well known brokerages in the area, but the minute I stepped into Blackwell Real Estate, it felt like home. James was very accommodating to my schedule and we met when it was convenient for me, not the other way around. He sent me a thank you note after our meeting and followed up with a phone call. Becoming a part of Blackwell Real Estate was an easy decision, not just because of the New Agent compensation breakdown, but the training James provides made it a very easy decision to hang my license with Blackwell. I was able to set up all my training when it was convenient for me, whether it be through Zoom or at the office, and I didn’t have to pay for the training either! The larger firms required me to pay for a 6 week training course where I had to attend their classes at their scheduled times. It wasn’t convenient for me when I have 2 small children at home and needed to not be interrupted (their words). James welcomed my children into the zoom meetings and put on a movie at the office when I needed to bring them; he understands that children will be present and is extremely patient and accommodating.
Not to mention ALL the marketing he provides to new agents! With James’ help, I’ve been able to get my name out to the community and I’ve been successful at acquiring new clients because of his client-relationship training. As a new agent I had so many questions; James always answered the phone when I called, and replied within seconds of me sending him a text (he still does!). If I wanted to meet at the office for additional support, he was there! I never felt like I was alone during a transaction; he makes himself available to help in any way. I’ve probably asked him the same question 20 times, he is so patient with me until I fully understand the situation and have a grasp on what needs to be done. It’s apparent James wants all of his agents to be successful and he pours his time and resources into us to make us successful!

Every so often in life you meet someone that you can say with all honesty is a genuinely good person. For me, that happened in spring on 2015 when a Real Estate Broker by the name of James Blackwell was recommended to my Mom.  I learned 3 things about James during that real estate experience…he was honest, he was caring and he would go out of his way to go the extra mile. Now, that I’ve worked with him as an agent for almost 3 years, I can say those qualities still hold true.

If you want to work for someone that actually cares about you as a person then you’ve found the right company. From day one, James gave me his most precious asset of time. Every day he would spend about about an hour of his time with me and go over contracts, do practice phone calls, and teach me all the things that agents need to know in order to be successful. Even now that I’m more experienced, I know that his door is always open when I need him. There are times when I call him with a question and he answers the call before I even hear it ring on my end. That’s the difference with this company, you’re not just an agent to James. He genuinely wants you to succeed.

There’s another difference as well, it’s not just James that wants you to succeed, it’s everyone in the office. There is a real team atmosphere here and a sense of comradery. We all help each other out whether it’s answering a question, pep talks, venting sessions or stepping in for showings. I’ve never worked for a company with the same family feel.

For me personally, I will never go to another brokerage. There is no other company that can offer me what Blackwell Real Estate does.
